Thought I’d kick things off with an introduction – and, no, that’s not real German.

My name is Jeff and you might have seen my stuff elsewhere, either on Write On Sports or the blog I run, It’s a Simple Game; it’s also possible I’ve dropped a comment or two on your site.

Who am I? A formerly physically footloose guy, I’m now only footloose in my brain; but the physical footloose-ness is how I came to follow the New England Revolution. For no particular reason, I lived in the Boston area for (was it?) three years in the late 1990s. That’s where I read the inimitable Pictures of Chairman Mao, the Revolution’s old hard-copy fanzine; the love-hate-love-’em-for-hating-’em spirit of that publication bonded me to the team and I haven’t given it up since. And that’s in spite of moving to the Pacific Northwest some five years ago.

I’ll be following the personalities and fortunes – though, sadly, not the unique aromas – of the New England Revolution for The Offside. Hope you enjoy what I do. And hope to hear from you. If you must tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about, feel free…but, please, be gentle.

  Hey Jeff! Welcome to theoffside.com – I’m the Kansas City Wizards blogger here, despite living in New England myself. It’s funny how MLS fandom seems to split less by geography than other sports here.
