Who needs Beckham? We’ve got(?) God!

By: Sabin | February 21st, 2007

Well, since both Liverpool and Revolution won today, I thought it fitting to tie the two teams together — more than they are already, that is — with a bit of idle gossip. Now mind you, this is purely gossip at this point, and the source has very little detail, but Robbie Fowler of Liverpool fame is allegedly being sought after (thanks to Brian of liverpool.theoffside.com*) by his old team mate, Steve Nicol.

More on this is it continues to — maybe — develop.

*Seriously. I wouldn’t have found this without our own Liverpool site. Thanks for this one. Made a good day better.

Jeez, you need to be careful about throwing around the “God” moniker–in Italy, that’s Paolo Maldini and getting Maldini would be a coup. But you did catch my attention, so congrats.

Bring on Fowler AND Jari. And Washing Machine Eyeballs! I want to see a return to the nineties when snorting the pitch was still cool.

Seriously though, you are being careless with “God”. Everyone knows that’s Paolo DiCanio when he was at West Ham. Unless it was Capt. Robert Hatch, that is.

Well, The Kop would probably be willing to go on and around about who’s God is God, but I’ll leave it for now. ;)

For me when you say “god” you can’t be talking about anybody but Zidane. So as Louise says, be careful!

I think we’ll all agree that Taylor Twellman would be a nice acolyte.

I’ve read this rumor a dozen times and want to go on record here as wholeheartedly endorsing the move: Robbie Fowler remains my favorite player in the whole world - and not just for his looks (which were once dubbed “village idiot good-looks”). I can’t actually explain it, though things like snorting the endline certainly didn’t hurt.
