UPDATE: January transfer’s getting interesting …

By: Sabin | January 15th, 2008

Taylor Twellman peeved about not going to Preston North End; magical high school wunderkind in the works; Eddie Johnson leaves US Camp for talks with … Fulham! And if it wasn’t exciting enough, now we find out that the Revs won’t be picking up Pat Noonan’s option. Whether it’s good or bad, the fact that the January transfer window is having such an influence on the MLS is indicative of the impact the league seems to be having on the rest of the world.

I still maintain that the MLS should not be in the business of generating good players for profit, but I have to admit it does make January a heck of a lot more exciting.

I’ll do my best to keep on top of all of the gossip (including this little tidbit regarding Twellman’s divorce!).

My guess is that our beloved Revs will look a bit different come April 29th…

More later…

What a hoot - Maybe the MLS has really made it big time? I could almost see Twellman People magazine or US weekly!

Noonan isn’t too much of a surprise I guess. Since his injury he’s turned into a real finesse player. It’s hard to believe he could keep playing at the same level for more than a year or two. That being said, youngsters such as Christman still didn’t measure up in terms of finishing. It’s all about positioning and putting the ball on goal. You can run in circles as fast as you want, but there isn’t a column for that one at the end of the day.

The draft just got REALLY exciting for the revs. I wonder if we’ll go for a defensive player or forward in the first round.

Nice to Albright on the roster! If he’s healthy he adds some serious speed to the roster. He’s also one of the most adaptable players in the MLS. He can play on the backline, midfield, or up front (which we may need if Twellman really wants out!).

Christman is going to loose some sleep with all these Dukies on the roster. Year in and year out, UVA vs Duke is one of the hardest fought matches in college soccer. I wonder how quickly they’ll kiss and make up :-)

anyone else notice that Twellman just got dropped from the UNMNT roster for the game vs Mexico? Noonan is still on the roster…

No revs saw action last night in the Mexico game. That too bad because I think parkhurst in particular would have benefitted from the exposure. The midfield play by the US was pretty lame too. Couldn’t help but wonder what Shalrie would have done had he been in there mixing it up instead of Clark or Bradley Jr.
