Revs sneak out of Columbus with 1 point; Herron deserves suspension
By: Sabin | April 19th, 2007The Revs ended up blowing a 2 – 1 lead in the 83rd minute when a quick cross from Frankie Hejduk led to a game-tying goal from Kei Kamara. But that’s not what I came here to talk to you about. I’m more interested in discussing the elbow from Andy Herron in the first half of the game, but can’t find the words right now.
In short, a frustrated Jay Heaps pulled Herron to the ground around the 40th minute or so. Three minutes later, Herron figured he’d retaliate with a vicious elbow to Heaps’ face inside the box on the next play. A quick, furtive glance around him to make sure no refs were watching, and Herron let fly. Petulant bastard.
I’m disgusted, and I hope Herron gets banned for a few matches over this. The Revs held their composure, though, improved their game in the second half, and finished well albeit with only one point. The deserved three.
More tomorrow.

Frankly, I don’t think the Revs deserved three. They were scored on twice by the second-worst offense in the league. Now, granted, they managed to score their brace on a pretty good defense too. But, the game I saw didn’t really deserve to be won by either side. I have to agree with you on Herron – he should get a suspension for the elbow – I’ll be curious to see how MLS deals with it.
