Revs fall to Fire, 1 - 0

By: Sabin | April 7th, 2007

Well, there it is. The story from this game is Wells Thompson, in my mind. More on that tomorrow, though. As far as the game goes, the Revs got caught in the 4th minute by a bouncy fluke of a goal off of a loopy pass from Mapp into the area.

Overall, the Revs need to get their rookies settled and get their standard go-to players healthy. More tomorrow, as the night of soccer’s not quite done.

Your thoughts on the game?

Was the goal really fluky? I haven’t seen it yet, but most the match reports didn’t mention it was lucky. Not that I’m disputing your version of events or anything.

The pass into the area from Mapp was real, but the deflection off of the Fire player ricocheted off of the far post into the net due to the right spin, as far as I could tell. That said, the Revs back line — indeed the whole team — was pretty shaky for about 35 minutes. It was a deserved goal, but seemed lucky (or unlucky, if you’re a Revs fan ;) ).
