Good press heading to RFK Stadium
By: Sabin | May 2nd, 2007The New England Revolution are getting good press from their recent win over FC Dallas, which is good to see. Taylor Twellman continues his rise to the top of all-time scorers, Steve Ralston cements his reputation as the great wingman he is, and the Revs finally get a win at Pizza Hut Park — is it just me, or does the corporate naming of stadiums seem to have gone too far?
I’m glad their getting the press now, because this Thursday they’ll be playing ESPN2’s favorite team, D.C. United. I don’t actually know if they really are ESPN2’s favorite, but I can’t remember a game broadcast announced by Rob Stone and Eric Wynalda where at least once the phrase “storied team of the MLS”, or “team to beat” didn’t get bandied about by one or both of them. So the positive Revs spin is good to see in a media environment that dotes on D.C. That said, on April 19th against the Columbus Crew, Wynalda and Co. did have some positive things to say about the Revolution side, so I’m interested in seeing what happens this week.
