Electricity on the Northshore (and the Revs, too!)
By: Sabin | May 21st, 2007We didn’t see the game on Saturday because the power on our block went out for about 20 hours. From the reports, though, we didn’t miss much, eh?
The post-match buzz is always the most interesting, I think. Pre-match reports, predictions, and all of that try to put some kind of spin on what may happen. Post-match, though, puts a spin on what really happened.
If you believe all of the reports, the Revolution were a tough, clumsy team who held out to the end through sheer force of will, luck, and Matt “Cat Paw” Reis (his quote on that last save is the best ever) while a limp but determined Dynamo took shot after shot on the bumpy surface of their home stadium. Sounds to me (not having seen the game) that the Revs got caught on their back foot, but are being shined on by fortune.
If you’re following the tracker, you know that the Revs have as many points this season as they did at this time in 2005: their best season (points-wise) in the past three years. It’s an exciting prospect, especially since the bulk of the next run of games will be played at home, starting with KC Wizards this Saturday.
As part of a double header which features Ireland vs Bolivia, the stadium should have a great atmosphere for a welcome-home to the Revs. Boston is one of the last great stands of the Irish (my wife being one) in the United States, and I think that — at some level — the Revs have been adopted as a wayard son of the Emerald Island (as it stands in Southie, at least). Should be a great game, and — providing there’s power on in Beverly — I’ll be glued to it.
Watch this spot for more on Revs news in the coming weeks.

Any Revolution stadium update yet?

The latest from the Revolution Front Office is what was released in the press a couple of months ago: the issue isn’t dead, and they are looking at area towns. I wasn’t able to get any more from their communications team than that. I’ll keep digging, though.
