Dirty Dozen?
By: Sabin | February 15th, 2007I just found this article over at the Washington Post this morning. The gist of the article is to let David Beckham know — so that he can avoid injury — about the 12 players he should most watch out for during his tenure here in the MLS.
Among this list of roustabouts and ne’er-do-wells: Joe Franchino, Daniel Hernandez, Matt Reis.
This is what he had to say about Hernandez: “An enforcer who sometimes gets his sports mixed up. The former SMU kicker has ambitions to play for the Dallas Cowboys.”
I haven’t read any of John Hayden’s other pieces, but I have to wonder if maybe mentioning three Revs players is a little sour grapes from the play-offs last season? I’ve always thought of the Revs as scrappers, but to make up 25% of a dirty dozen?
Feel free to drop some comments on this one, because for my money I feel like Alecko Eskandarian should’ve been on that list, too.

I find it humorous that an article like this, by virtue of its Beckham premise, can’t list any Galaxy players.
And by this I mean: Of course all MY guys are straight-up, squeaky-clean angels. What’s wrong with YOUR guys?
(Hi from the LA Galaxy Offside.):-)

Oh, and? Be sure to stop by the other MLS blogs (including, of course, mine) frequently and leave comments. It makes us feel less lonely as we’re building up our audience. Which WILL come. RIGHT?

What’s an audience?
Good post, Sabin. Speaking as a big Danny Hernandez fan (LINK LINK), I just kind of smile at his conclusion; there’s no question the guy hits hard. Dirty? Nah, but definitely hard.
I don’t get Franchino on this list, though. I think he’s cursed with a low center of gravity and don’t feel it’s fair to criticize a player’s biological lot.

Hmm….where I typed “conclusion” I meant “inclusion.” Damn typos.
