Atlante 1 Revs 0

By: Dan | March 7th, 2008

In a heated (and I mean heated) match against Mexican Apertura winners Atlante, the Revs failed to find the net.  Three players were given marching orders, Albright after two cautions, and Larentowicz and an Atlante player were both show straight reds after a scuffle in the 81st minute.

The Atlante goal was scored my midfield captain, Jose Munoz Mustafa, in the 38th minute. It is of note that not much separated the two sides, with as both had abundant shots on net. Check the game report @ House of Soccer.

In other news, former Revs midfielder, Arsene Oka signed onto the Portland Timbers yesterday. Oka, began his career in his native Cote d’Ivoire, playing for Stade d’Abidjan and Africa Sports National before coming to the states to play for the Revs.

Sorry dude, but I’m not sure it was televised. All the reports I’ve read said that there were cautions galore.

    I’m glad we’re no pushovers.

I commented in the front page Q&A post before checking here and seeing that you made a reference to the Oka-to-Portland move. Stupid me. Anywaaaaaze… any insights into the guy?

Jon, it’s definitely noteworthy that Oka started his career with Africa Sports, because they launched the careers of countless West Africans. I’ve only seen him in practice, I’ve never seen him on the pitch at Gillette. He looked pretty tricky, had some ball skills, but overall looked kind of flat footed.

He didn’t cut the mustard with the Revs, but I think he’ll be a solid USL player.
