Another Cancun Warm-Up, Some Hyperbole

By: Jeff | March 15th, 2007

“They fortified and with the ambition to continue with their winning gust of wind in their house, the Pioneers of Cancun are reported ready for their international friendly commitment before New England Revolution, team subcampeón of the American league Major League Soccer (MLS). The pupilos of Narcissus “Curl” Moral have shown that they have claw and delivery, and that no team intimidates them, now they are maintained in the second general place with 10 units and to a single point of the leader. With the spirits by the clouds, and with the confidence to continue in its good gust of wind, the team worked hardly to maintain this commitment of international character and to show of what are facts the boys of the Second and Third Division.”

The above leads a preview (hat tip, The Magpie) of the New England Revolution’s next preseason friendly, this one coming today against Pioneros de Cancun. No doubt, it reads better in the original Spanish of the Cancun reporter who wrote it, but, really, it’s hard to beat the free translation (picked up here) for wonderful lines about, “the ambition to continue with their winning gust of wind in their house.” Yesssss….

Here’s to hoping for more goals against lower-division Mexican opposition, though perhaps a bit less in the fulsome praise department for the forward pairing of Taylor Twellman and Adam Cristman, which has only been tested against the same. With Pat Noonan still gimpy, Lord know the side could use some depth at forward, so I’d like nothing more than for Cristman arrive as the second coming of Damani Ralph. But, let’s not get carried away on one result, yeah?
