And that’s a wrap!
By: Sabin |And on a final note for this evening, The Revolution defeated the Shell Shockers 4 – 0 at LSU Soccer Complex. That leaves the Revs undefeated in a pre-season with only one real challenge, the LA Galaxy. Their next game will be on April 7th against Chicago Fire at Toyota Park.
On that note, I have [...]
Sometimes, it’s about more than soccer
By: Sabin |In the midst of the turmoil — both perceived and real — the Revolution are experiencing, they took some time out this past weekend to lend a helping hand in New Orleans for hurricane-ravaged St. Bernard.
I’m not sure what else I can add to it, except that it’s nice to see the spirit of Fair [...]
Franchino on Leave of Absence
By: Sabin |I just got home and wanted to get this out there: stories in the Boston Herald and Boston Globe today say that Joseph Franchino will be on an indefinite leave of absence. The Revs office has no further details, but I’ll see what I can dig up.
More on this later.
Photos from Revs v. Olimpia (3/25)
By: Jeff |The photos offered by Sean Heffernan in this post are below. Heffernan caught the game live and offered some solid commentary in the same comment.
Cristman Cristman (Joseph) Cristman
By: Sabin |Before I start today’s post, I just want to wish my comrade-at-words, Jeff, good luck with his new assignment. He’s going to be taking over theoffside.com’s Columbus Crew blog. he tells it better in his own words here. Good luck, Jeff, and thanks for the fine writing for the Revolution. I’ll do my best to [...]
Shalrie Joseph and Plot Twists
By: Jeff |After a couple days spent wallowing in the Shalrie Joseph Saga – and a little time spent injecting bald speculation (here and here) into the blogosphere – a pause in the action has me feeling a little philosophical. Maybe it’s strife in the family that has me musing about loss and changing fortunes.
UPDATE: Never [...]
Shalrie Watch Continues
By: Jeff |(UPDATE: Not to trump what appears below, but my current wager (4th “real” paragraph in this post) as to where a footloose Shalrie Joseph might go just got a boost. I just read on the Toronto FC blog that the Canadian outfit picked up Brian Mulrooney from FC Dallas. That should clear up [...]
Parkhurst: More Good News
By: Jeff |With the Boston Globe suddenly taking an interest in the New England Revolution, there’s plenty to talk about. Today’s “double-plus-good” news appears below, but there’s another item in the Globe today reporting on the status of starting central defender Michael Parkhurst’s shoulder.
For the record, it’s one of those lovely, “damned-if-you-don’t, damned-if-you-do” equations: play with [...]
Red Sox are to Theo Epstein as Revolution are to … ?
By: Sabin |Brian Bilello, COO of New England Revolution. According to Boston Magazine, Bilello is the next Epstein (LINK). Scroll down about halfway to find the snippet on Bilello. The piece that made me happiest is this bit Bilello says about his role: “We don’t want to turn it into a circus, but we have to get [...]
And Now we Lose Joseph?
By: Sabin |This isn’t exactly new news, but I can’t help myself. The Boston Globe writes that — because of a $325,000 difference — Shalrie Joseph will ask to be traded. The conversations around this one are still ripening, but I’ll put my two cents into the fray.
1. Shalrie Joseph is a phenomenal player:
He’s a joy [...]
